Abstract

Extensive overview of the history of philology, scholarship and culture in the ancient world, from Aristotle and the Peripatetic school through the crucial Hellenistic culture to its final outcome in the late antique syllogies. Particular mention is made of Francesco Bossi’s contributions in this field.
